What I learn

What did you learn?

I learn that I can come up with some ideas to make an article but also learn that the spelling can get in the way.

How did you learn in?

Why is this important?
For me is important now because now I know where I need the most work to improve myself to write even more I ever can.

magazine reflection

1. Overall, when you think about the big picture of your writing, what improved? How did it get better? Why? My intro have change a lot by being critique. For example this the first daft I did "This semester I am working as an intern at Maritime Museum of San Diego under Kevin Sheehan. Sheehan is the manager of the Museum, which is the only museum in San Diego that is onboard a ship." By getting my interview critique by class my interview change to this “Eighteenth century warships and Russian submarines are unlikely surroundings for an office space, but for Kevin Sheehan, manager of the San Diego Maritime Museum, it is the norm.” The final introduction is better that the first draft because it grabs the readers attention and it has details about the ships at the museum.

2. Overall, when you think about the big picture of your writing, what still needs work? What do you think will help you improve? Why? I need help on coming up with ideas and Spelling. I notice that I don’t have trouble talking about my ideas but I find it difficult to write them down because spelling gets in the way.

3. Specifically, show us something that improved and describe the path it took to get better. You can quote your article, your drafts, link to evidence, etc.

4. Describe something specific (or a few things!) that you learned about writing.
I learn that I can come up with some ideas to make an article but also learn that can spelling can get in the way. For this project I learn about how to write for an audience.

Reflection

1. What went well for you during the process of creating this magazine?
Everything went well getting the daft done and take step to trying to finish. The research went well

2. What challenges did you face as you moved from an early draft or idea to a final product?
The challenges where going the daft done when it was do and the mistake I have in the interview. Use InDesign program it was the first time I use it kind of hard to use btheut i figure out to use some of the tool InDesign have.

3. What other examples of work—student and professional—stood out as exemplary and served as a good model for your own work? I got some idea from New York Time and cnn.com using interview having in information

Obama & Socialism

Socialism is when government owns land, hospitals, school and factories. The government gives away food, pay for hospital bills and goods. Unlike capitalism, socialism not about making profit.

A socialist is a person who believes that a government should help citizens have food, a place to live, clothes, education and health care. They believe that government should help poor people by paying for what they need.

In my eyes, Obama is socialist because wants to help people that are in need of better health care and goods. And he believes that our taxes should be going to places that need more, not to just spend the stuff that U.S.A doesn't need. The taxes should be going to school, land, factories and hospitals. In some ways he is not a socialist becuase he is okay with people making profit for themselves.

Photo Essay

Caption1: Over the years the Star of India has been the oldest active ship has changed from an active sailing vessel to a museum piece. Even the name of the ship has changed. When she was built in 1863, she was named Euterpe. When she was purchased by Alaska Packers in 1906 she was renamed Star of India. The Alaska packers are canned salmon manufacturers based in San Francisco.

Caption 2: The Star of India has been used for many purposes. Originally, she carried English immigrants. These uniforms were worn by the crew of twenty or more who would sail her from England to India, and later Australia and New Zealand. Later she was used for fishing. Early in the twentieth century she sailed regularly from San Francisco to Alaska carrying fishermen.

Caption3: In the 1920s she was brought to San Diego. In the 1950s there was a caretaker who lived on board and also sea cadets who spent time there. It wasn’t until the 1960s that she became restored.

Caption 4: Today she sails almost every November, with a captain, first mate, and volunteer crew. It must be awesome to see this giant wind powered ship out at sea because today ships are powered by engines. Every November people come from around the world to witness this event.

Caption 5: She is used as a place to display museum items and also tell the story of sailing ships. The guns on display remind us of a time when the sea was a dangerous place. The crew of the ship had to defend themselves against pirates and navy ships from other countries.

Caption 6: There are about 40 full and part time staff members on board. Is Kevin Sheehan his is liberty and collection. His job is almost like captain of the ship he makes sure everything is run smoothly.

If you were Obama's economics advisor...

If I were an adviser to Barack Obama, I would want him to try to fix all Bush’s mistakes. The first mistake that Bush made was sending our troops to Iraq for no reason. He thought that there were bombs in Iraq, but there really were none. I would advise Obama to bring the troops home. We are wasting money on the war in Iraq, using money for weapons, tanks, and health care for injured soldiers. That money can go to people who need the money in the United States. For example, right now people are having trouble paying for health care and supporting their family. People are losing their homes. The money that is going towards the war could help these people.
Another mistake that Bush made was the slow response to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Bush did not care for them and acted very slow. Victims of Katrina are still living away from their homes. I think that Obama should use money to help Katrina victims get back into their homes.
I really don’t think that we need to raise taxes. I think that we should change where the tax money is going. Instead of spending it on Iraq, we should spend on the needs of the people in the United States.

+Evidence?
+Introduction?
+Conclusion?
and that all

historic addresses

By closing Guantanamo Bay, Obama is keeping a promise he made in his inaugural address--to change the image of the US.

During Bush’s presidency, America’s image was bad. Many Iraq and American people were dying in Iraq because Bush thought there were weapon’s of mass destruction there. But the war continues even though there really are no weapons there. If I were in another county, I would think that the United State just wanted war not peace.

Another reason why the image of the US is bad was because of the treatment of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. Some people were put in Guantanamo Bay for something that they didn’t do. For example, they may have been accused of being a terrorist. The prisoners are not receiving a fair trial. Some prisoners have been tortured to death. Even though these prisoners may have information, it is not right to force them to talk by torturing them. The treatment of the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay is against US laws that say every person has a right to a fair trial.

Obama wants to fight against terrorism but in a different way than Bush. He wants to “begin again the work of remaking America” by changing our image in the world (Inaugural Address, Jan. 20, 2009). Obama is going to start following the laws in the constitution. He wants the prisoners to be treated fairly. He wants other countries to start to trust the US again.

Hall of Icon

Barack Obama

Barack Obama was born in August 4, 1961 in Hawaii. Obama have two kids and he is marry. Obama is our new president

Tupac Quote

I use a quote from a song called “Change” by 2pac written in 1995. The song is about change. The artist tries to say that the world needs to change and it is hard for poor people to live. They are struggling to live. For example, "crack to the kids who the hell cares one less hungry mouth on the welfare".

Connections

The song change connect to Obama because it talk about change and obama want to try to change world and the song is about wanted to the world to changed. When Tupac says, “Some things will never change” he means that racism will not end. People still treat each other differently because of their skin color. There are probably some people that did not vote for Obama because of his skin color (find evidence for this).

Even though Obama wants to make changes in the White House. I agree with Tupac that “some things will never change.” [thesis]. For example, Obama wants to make it more difficult for undocumented workers to cross the border from Mexico and he wants to make it easier for the immigrants that are here to become citizens. But even if he tries to do this, immigrants will find some way to cross the border because they need jobs to feed their families and to be with their families who live in the United States. So, the problem of immigration probably will not change.
